Foods That Do Good was created by Dairy Australia to equip health professionals with easy-to-access and evidence-based nutritional information to better inform Australians about the benefits of healthy eating.

Dairy Australia believes in building and fostering positive relationships with partners and organisations to help Australians enjoy good nutrition and balanced diets.

Listed below are organisations that partner with Dairy Australia to promote healthy eating and the important role dairy foods have to play in a balanced diet.

Australian Institute of Sport

The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) is Australia’s peak sports body. The partnership provides a platform to promote the benefits of milk and other dairy foods and ingredients in the diets of athletes and active Australians. Dairy Australia works closely with AIS Nutrition, including Head of Sports Nutrition Professor Louise Burke, on nutrition communications and research.

Nutrition Australia

Nutrition Australia is a non-government, non-profit, independent community-based member organisation that promotes health and wellbeing to all Australians.

Collaboration with Nutrition Australia involves communicating the latest dairy science and resources to its member base, which includes the general public and some of Australia's most influential food and nutrition experts. It also enables a coordinated approach on a range of policy issues relevant to health and nutrition.

Nutrition Society of Australia

The Nutrition Society of Australia (NSA) represents approximately 900 qualified, practising scientists and educators with a common interest in nutrition research and application of nutrition science. 

The focus of NSA is to be at the hub of Australian nutrition-related sciences and industries. Members include human nutritionists and dietitians, medical practitioners and nurses, agricultural scientists and veterinarians, food scientists, teachers and students.

Through this partnership, Dairy Australia promotes relevant and thought-provoking research and communications around dairy science and dairy’s role in a healthy diet.

Osteoporosis Australia

As a national not-for-profit organisation, Osteoporosis Australia aims to improve awareness about the disease in the Australian community and reduce fracture risk. Osteoporosis Australia focuses on the following key objectives:

  • Increase awareness throughout Australia and promote better management of osteoporosis

  • Encourage prevention

  • Improve GP and other health professionals’ understanding of osteoporosis

  • Act as an effective lobby voice in federal Government

  • Fund bone-related research. 

Australian Dental Association

The Australian Dental Association (ADA) supports dentists to:

  • Encourage the improvement of the oral and general health of the public;

  • Promote the ethics, art and science of dentistry; and

  • Provide safe, high quality professional oral care.

In working together, the ADA and Dairy Australia have an opportunity to educate dentists about the positive impact of nutrition, including dairy foods, on oral health. Dentists are then able to use this information when educating patients.

National Asthma Council Australia

National Asthma Council Australia is a not-for-profit organisation working to improve health outcomes and quality of life for people with asthma. As the national authority on asthma, its priorities are to:

  • Provide the latest information on asthma to health professionals nationally to help improve their quality of care;

  • Gather, analyse and share information on asthma;

  • Work with all members of the asthma community, including people with asthma and their care givers, health professionals, patient support organisations, the health industry, and government agencies; and

  • Continue to set the standard for best-practice asthma management.

Together Dairy Australia and The National Asthma Council Australia communicate the latest dairy science and dairy’s role in a healthy diet to health professionals and consumers. A particular focus of this partnership has been to debunk the myth that dairy causes asthma.

Arthritis and Osteoporosis Victoria

Arthritis and Osteoporosis Victoria (A&OV) is the peak body representing Victorians living with arthritis and more than 100 musculoskeletal conditions.

A&OV works together with a broad community of volunteers, generous financial supporters, medical practitioners and Victorians who access their services, courses, information and programs to achieve ‘the best possible musculoskeletal health and wellbeing for all Victorians’. Together A&OV and Dairy Australia are working on communicating the important role of dairy foods in improving and maintaining bone and muscle strength and providing practical recipes for including dairy foods in a healthy, balanced diet.

Jean Hailes for Women's Health

Jean Hailes for Women's Health provides women with evidence-based information, knowledge and clinical care to assist them to actively manage their own health and wellbeing throughout the whole of life. They are dedicated to prevention of illness and improving women’s knowledge and understanding of important health issues from adolescence to midlife and beyond.

Dietitian Connection

75% of all working dietitians and students nationally are members of Dietitian Connection. Dietitian Connection provides the latest nutrition information and business resources, news, events and forums. Backed by a scientific advisory board to ensure a reliable and credible source of information, the organisation communicates to its members using preferred media platforms such as e-news, Facebook, webinars and a website.

Dairy Australia is working with Dietitian Connection to inform and educate dietitians on the latest dairy nutrition science and resources available to its members.

Sports Dietitians Australia

Sports Dietitians Australia (SDA) is Australia’s peak professional body for dietitians specialising in sports nutrition. SDA members help active Australians maximise their exercise goals with credible nutrition advice. Dairy Australia works with SDA to keep members updated on the latest research and collaborates on educational programs and resources.
